Issue Position: We need jobs and a better economic environment

Issue Position

One of the most pressing issues facing both our district and our state is employment. Oregon's unemployment rate is higher than the national rate, and Douglas County's is even higher. Regulations and taxes imposed on small business by government entities, as well as underutilizing our natural resources due to strict land use laws, have made it difficult for Oregonians to create and maintain jobs. As a small business owner in this community, I understand the excessive pressures placed on the private sector by the government; as your State Representative, I will provide the leadership needed to find new solutions and new strategies to help solve these problems.
